OUR VISION

REDEEMING THE GAME

"To make disciples of Jesus through the game of basketball, cultivating a culture where athletes and coaches are set free from performance-driven identity and are awakened to their true identity as beloved sons and daughters of God."

Matt Sanders is a key leader on our Origins Basketball team. For 23 years, he has coached college-level basketball with many successful seasons, including two NCCAA DII Regional Championships. He is passionate about developing players and coaches in the game and in understanding their identity in Christ. Through the pathway of mission organization-Origins Basketball, The Basketball Missions Community online, and other various opportunities to share the Gospel through the game domestically, and across the world. We do this through zoom calls, in person camps and coaches clinics, and speaking engagements with schools, coaches/teams.
 

Our mission is: "My mission is to serve as a missionary who uses the platform of basketball to help coaches and players discover and grow in their true identity in Christ-free from the pressures of performance-based love. Through discipleship, mentorship, and the game itself, I aim to cultivate a culture where coaches and  athletes are valued not for what they do on the court, but for who they are in Christ-beloved, chosen, and redeemed."
